HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES – December 2, 2025
The City of Hiawassee December Council meeting was called to order at 6:00pm on December 2, 2025, in Council Chambers by Mayor Jay Chastain, Jr. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over Facebook Live.
Present, in addition to the Mayor, were Council members, Scott Benton, Nancy Noblet, Jonathan Wilson and Patsy Owens. Council member Amy Barrett could not attend. Staff present were Chief Paul Smith Officer Jose Carvajal, Economic Development Director Lily Pontiz, Deputy City Clerk Sheryl Branson and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.
The Invocation was given by Council member Nancy Noblet and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Jay Chastain requested the Consent Agenda be amended to include the minutes from November 19, 2025, Special Called Meeting.
Motion to approve the Final Agenda as amended was made by Council member Patsy Owens, seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet, with all present in favor.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda as amended which consisted of the minutes of November 4, 2025 Council Meeting , the minutes of the November 14, 2025 Special Called Meeting, minutes from the November 19, 2025, Special Called Meeting, minutes of November 24, 2025 Work Session Meeting and the August and September Financials, motion was made by Council member Scott Benton seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet, with all present in favor.
Motion to approve the 2026 Holiday/Meeting Schedule was made by Council member Jonathan Wilson, seconded by Council member Scott Benton, with all present in favor.
Motion to table the Shook House Proceeds Allocation was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson, with all present in favor.
Motion to approve appointing Bradley Barrett to the DDA Board was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Scott Benton, with all present in favor.
There being no need for executive session, motion to adjourn was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson, with all in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:02 pm.
