HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES April 7, 2026, 6:00 pm

The City of Hiawassee April City Council meeting was called to order at 6:00pm on April 7, 2026, in Council Chambers by Mayor Jay Chastain, Jr. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over Facebook Live.
Present, in addition to the Mayor, were Council members, Nancy Noblet, Jonathan Wilson, Andrea Bell and Jeff Scott. Scott Benton was present via phone. Staff present were Officer Jose Carvajal, Economic Development Director Lily Ponitz, Deputy City Clerk Sheryl Branson and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.
The Invocation was given by Council member Andrea Bell and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Motion to approve the agenda as distributed was made by Council member Nancy Noblet and seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all in favor.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda, which consisted of the minutes of March 3, 2026 Council Meeting , minutes of March 30, 2026 Work Session Meeting, the January and February financials, and the payment of the PBC Loan from SPLOST (20,561.30), was made by Council member Andrea Bell and seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet, with all in favor.
Motion to approve the resolution for City of Ethics was made by Scott Benton and seconded by Andrea Bell, with all in favor.
Motion to approve the paving contract of Hiawassee Estates (22,815.00) and repairs to Bell Street (1,800.0) to Colwell Constructions Company from LMIG/LRA-30% LMIG match from SPLOST was made by Council member Nancy Noblet and seconded by Jonathan Wilson, with all in favor.

There being no need for executive session, motion to adjourn was made by Council member Jonathan Wilson and seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet, with all in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:03 pm.
