HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL
June 5^th, 2018

The June 2018 City Council Meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm at City Hall. 

Present were Mayor Liz Ordiales, Council members Anne Mitchell, Kris Berrong, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet and Patsy Owens. Also present were Police Officer John C. Carter III and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.

Invocation was given by Kris Berrong followed by the Pledge of Allegiance

Mayor Ordiales introduced the newest police officer John C Carter III. 

Mayor Ordiales announced that the June work session which would normally be held on Monday June 25^thconflicts with the Georgia Municipal Association conference and will have to be moved to Tuesday, June 26^th.  She also announced that the Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruiz-in would like to have a movie block party on Wednesday July 11^thbefore the event officially begins on Thursday. Council member Amy Barrett suggested Grease as the movie

Motion to Adopt Final Agenda as distributed was made by Kris Berrong and seconded by Anne Mitchell with all in favor.

In old business, Flicks on the Square will show the movie Early Man this week and the Saturday evening Music on the Square will features the J.C. Cloggers.  The Car seat event resulted in 20 inspections and 11 car seats replaced at no charge. 

There was no new business.

Motion was made to approve the consent agenda by Patsy Owens and seconded by Nancy Noblet with all in favor.  Consent agenda included the March Financials, minutes of the May 1st City Council meeting and the minutes of the May 28^thWork Session.

Motion to approve the Alcohol Permit for Jacob Hill-Hiawassee Brew was made by Kris Berrong and seconded by Anne Mitchell with all in favor.

Motion to approve 1^streading of the 2018-2019 Budget was made by Patsy Owens, seconded by Amy Barrett with all in favor.  Public hearing will be scheduled in July when tax information is received.

Motion to approve 2^ndreading of Hiawassee Tree Ordinance was made by Amy Barrett, seconded by Anne Mitchell with all in favor.

Motion to approve 2^ndreading of Defined Benefit Retirement Plan was made by Nancy Noblet, seconded by Anne Michelle with all in favor.

Motion to enter executive session to discuss personnel was made by Nancy Noblet, seconded by Patsy Owens with all in favor.

Council entered executive session at 6:30.

Motion was made to exit executive session by Anne Mitchell, seconded by Patsy Owens with all in favor

Council exited executive session at 6:45.

Motion to adjourn was made by Anne Mitchell, seconded by Kris Berrong with all in favor.
