HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
May 7th, 2019

The May 2019 City Council Meeting was held at 6:00 p.m.in Council Chambers at City Hall.  The meeting was called to order by Mayor Liz Ordiales.

Present in addition to the Mayor were Council members Anne Mitchell, Kris Berrong, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet and Patsy Owens. Staff in attendance were Economic Development Director Denise McKay and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.

The invocation was given by Council member Nancy Noblet and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Ordiales reminded everyone that the next City Council Work Session will be held on May 20, 2019 due to the Memorial Day holiday. She distributed Flicks on the Square posters – extras will be at City Hall if anyone would like one.

Motion to adopt the final agenda as distributed was made by Council member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council member Kris Berrong with all in favor.

There was no old business. 

There was no new business.

The motions to approve the consent agenda (January and February Financials, and the April 2ndCity Council, April 29thWork Session, and April 18thBudget Hearing Meeting Minutes) was made by Council Member Anne Mitchell, seconded by Council Member Patsy Owens with all in favor.

The motion to approve the second reading of the Defined Benefit Ordinance amendment was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Anne Mitchell with all in favor.

The motion to approve the second ordinance reading to move funds from GMA to OneAmerica for City retirement and adoption agreement was made by Council Member Patsy Owens, seconded by Council Member Nancy Noblet with all in favor. 

The motion to approve the second reading and adoption of the 2019-2020 Budget was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Kris Berrong with all in favor.

The motion to approve new Water rates (effect with the June bill) was made by Council Member Anne Mitchell, seconded by Council Member Patsy Owens with all in favor.

The motion for approval of the purchase of the Police Department UTV (Calendar Funds), was made by Council Member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council Member Anne Mitchell with all in favor,

The motion to approve the first reading of the ordinance to move personnel Policy approvals to Resolutions instead of Ordinance was made by Council Member Anne Mitchell, seconded by Amy Barrett with all in favor.

The motion to approve listing surplus equipment/furniture discussed at Work Session on GovDeals was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Kris Berrong with all in favor.

There was no executive session.

The motion to adjourn was made by Council member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council member Patsy Owens with all in favor.  Meeting was adjourned at 6:07pm.
