HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES

The September 3^rd, 2019 City Council Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.in council chambers by Mayor Liz Ordiales.

Present in addition to the Mayor were Council Members Anne Mitchell, Kris Berrong, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet and Patsy Owens.  Staff present were Economic Development Director Denise McKay and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.

The invocation was given by Anne Mitchell and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Mayor announced that the Hometown Heroes banner event was well attended and thanked Chad Stack for photographs.  There will be a Tribute to 9/11 on Wednesday, September 11^th at 9:45 am on the Square.

The motion to adopt the final agenda as distributed was made by Council Member Amy Barrett. Seconded by Council Member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.

In old business, Mayor Ordiales announced that the public hearing and adoption of the millage rate will take place on September 23^rd, 2019 at 6 pm.

The motion to approve the consent agenda, which consists of the June Financials and the minutes of the August 6^th Council meeting and the August 26^th Work Session, was made by Council Member Anne Mitchell, seconded by Council Member Patsy Owens with all in favor.

The motion to approve the first reading of the Telecommunication ROW (UNITI) Ordinance was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Kris Berrong with all in favor.

The motion to approve the first reading of Small Cell Ordinance was made by Council Member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council Member Anne Mitchell with all in favor.

The motion to approve the Joint Development (JDA) resolution was made by Council Member Anne Mitchell, seconded by Council Member Patsy Owens with all in favor.

The motion to approve the Fluoride Resolution was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Kris Berrong with all in favor.  This resolution will provide for referendum questions to be placed on the special election ballot on May 19, 2020, which will read “Should the City of Hiawassee add fluoride to the city’s water system? (Yes or No)”.

There was no need for an executive session.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Council Member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Anne Mitchell, with all in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 6:09 pm.
