HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL CALLED MEETING
October 15^th, 6 PM 

The Hiawassee City Council Meeting was held on October 15^th to discuss the only 2 items on the agenda: 2^nd Reading of Millage Rate and 2^nd Reading to repeal the Sewer moratorium.  

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Liz Ordiales at 6:00 p.m. in council chambers.  The meeting was closed to the public due to the COVID-19 pandemic but was broadcast via Facebook Live on the City of Hiawassee Facebook Site.

Present in addition to the Mayor Liz Ordiales was Councilmembers Nancy Noblet, Jay Chastain, Amy Barrett, Patsy Owens, and Anne Mitchell. City Attorney Thomas Mitchell joined by telephone.  The staff present was Economic Development Director Denise McKay. 

The Invocation was given by Amy Barrett and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

Mayor Liz thanked all for the prayers and well wishes and also reported that since she was in South Florida for 2 weeks and visited 2 hospitals, she felt she was responsible to get COVID tested.  Results came back Wednesday night and were negative. The Mayor also announced that the Alcohol ordinance was completed, and Denise would be sending it out to the council early next week. 

A motion was made by Amy Barrett and second by Jay Chastain to approve the 2^nd reading of the Millage Rate Ordinance, no discussion and all in favor, motion carried.

A motion was made by Nancy Noblet and 2^nd by Jay Chastain to approve the 2^nd reading to repeal the Sewer moratorium, no discussion and all in favor, motion carried. 

Motion to go into exec session was made by Jay Chastain, second by Patsy Owens, all in favor. 

Council went into executive session to discuss litigation at 6:04.

Council to exit executive session was made by Jay Chastain and seconded by Patsy Owens with all in favor.   Returned to regular Called meeting status at 6:22, no further action was taken.

Meeting adjourned at 6:22pm with motions from Nancy Noblet and 2^nd by Anne Mitchell, all in favor.
