HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
January 4^th, 2022

The City of Hiawassee January City Council meeting was called to order at 6 PM on January 4th, 2022, in the Council Chambers by Mayor Liz Ordiales. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over Facebook Live. 

Present in addition to the Mayor, were Council members Amy Barrett, Jay Chastain, Anne Mitchell, Nancy Noblet, and Patsy Owens. Staff present were Economic Development Director Denise McKay and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick. 

The Invocation was given by Councilmember Amy Barrett and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Mayor Liz welcomed Doug Nicholson, Larry Owens, and her sister, Ligia Gonzalez, and announced that Billing Clerk Marta Izquierdo received great news today – her cancer is in remission and she will be returning to work next week.  The news was met with applause and congratulations to Marta.

Motion to approve the agenda as distributed was made by Councilmember Nancy Noblet, seconded by Councilmember Amy Barrett with all in favor.

City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick swore in Mayor Liz Ordiales, and Councilmembers Amy Barrett (Post 1) and Patsy Owens (Post 2).

There was no old business.

Motion to approve the AirMedCare contract for $5,390.00 was made by Councilmember Amy Barrett, seconded by Councilmember Patsy Owens with all in favor.

There was no need for an executive session.

Motion to adjourn was made by Councilmember Jay Chastain, seconded by Councilmember Anne Mitchell with all present in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 6:06 pm.
