HIAWASSEE MAY CITY COUNCIL MINUTES
July 5^th, 2022 6 PM

The City of Hiawassee July City Council meeting was called to order at 6 PM on July 5^th, 2022, in the Council Chambers by Mayor Liz Ordiales. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over FaceBook Live. 

Present in addition to the Mayor were Council members Anne Mitchell, Patsy Owens, Nancy Noblet, Jay Chastain and Amy Barrett. Staff present was City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick. Economic Development Director Denise McKay was on vacation.

The Invocation was given by Council member Amy Barrett and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  

Mayor Ordiales welcomed guests including Rachel Brineman-Toller who is doing an internship with Dr. Samuel Church, Brittany Holbrooks from the Towns County Herald and Pam Greene and her husband. 

Motion to approve the agenda as distributed was made by Council member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council Member Jay Chastain with all in favor.

There was no old business.

In new business, motion to approve the Consent Agenda, which consists of the June 7th City Council Meeting Minutes and the June 27th Work Session Minutes, was made by Council member Anne Mitchell and seconded by Council member Jay Chastain with all in favor.

Motion to approve Dual Ordinance Reading – 1 Meeting – 1^st Reading was made by Council member Nancy Noblet and seconded by Council member Patsy Owens with all in favor.

Motion to approve of Accounting Service Contract with Walker, Pierce & Tuck CPAs of Gainesville (estimated price is $25,905.00/year for the next 3 fiscal years), was made by Council member Amy Barrett seconded by Council member Jay Chastain with all in favor.

Motion to Approve the sidewalk repair work with Appalachian Concrete Service for $33,500 (LMIG Grant Money and SPLOST), was made by Council member Jay Chastain seconded by Council member Patsy Owens.  Council members Anne Mitchell and Amy Barrett were also in favor.  Council member Nancy Noblet recused herself as Appalachian Concrete Services is owned by her son, Jackson Noblet.

Motion to approve the new sidewalk work with Colwell Construction for $101,190 (Additional Grant 
Request granted $70,835 and SPLOST), was made by Council member Amy Barrett seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.

There was no need for executive session.

Motion to adjourn was made by Council member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.
