SPECIAL CALLED MEETING MINUTES

The Special Called meeting of the City Council of Hiawassee was called to order at 4pm in the Council Chambers on Tuesday June 4, 2024, by Mayor Liz Ordiales.  The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over FaceBook Live.

Present in addition to the Mayor were Council members Jonathan Wilson, Patsy Owens, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet, and Jay Chastain.  Staff present was City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.

The Invocation was given by Council member Nancy Noblet and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion to approve the agenda was made by Council member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all in favor.

The Council reviewed the amended budget proposal submitted.  Council member Wilson as a new Council member had several questions regarding specific amendments proposed.  Each line was reviewed and clarified. Because of the transition to the new accounting software, some general ledger numbers had changed, and it was a point of confusion.  The budget format was also in the old style (QuickBooks) and the budget vs. actual documents were in the new software (Black Mountain Software) which also created confusion.

The Council reviewed the FY 2024-2025 proposed budget line by line. Each change from the FY 2023 -2024 budget was reviewed and clarified.

Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Council member Amy Barrett, seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 4:45pm.`
