CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
The City of Hiawassee September Council meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm on September 3rd, 2024, in Council Chambers by Mayor Pro Tem Jay Chastain, Jr. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over FaceBook Live.
Present in addition to the Mayor Pro Tem, were Council members Patsy Owens, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet, and Jonathan Wilson. Staff present were Economic Development Director Denise McKay, and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick.
The Invocation was given by Council member Nancy Noblet and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Mayor Pro Tem Jay Chastain stated there were no announcements.
Motion to approve the agenda as distributed was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Patsy Owens with all in favor.
Motion to approve the Consent Agenda, which consists of the minutes from August 6th City Council Meeting and the minutes from August 26th Work Session was made by Council member Patsy Owens seconded by Council member Amy Barrett with all in favor.
Motion to approve the first reading of the Ornamental Structure Ordinance was made by Council member Amy Barrett seconded by Council member Jonthan Wilson with all in favor.
Motion to approve the Paris Business Center façade change orders (brick front, Hardie board rear, with an approximate cost of $52,915.03, was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all in favor.
Motion to approve the paving repair work (berm from Shook House to Frank Street, Oakmont Drive, behind the hardware store-asphalt cut for PBC lines and Chatuge Way at Main Street) for $5,100 was made by Council member Patsy Owens seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.
Motion to approve the first reading of the Mobile home density ordinance was made by Council member Amy Barrett seconded by Council member Patsy Owens with all in favor.
Motion to approve the Lead Service Line Inventory contract ($55,000.00) with Michael Denton (QLE, LLC) was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all in favor.
There being no need for executive session, motion to adjourn was made by Council member Amy Barrett seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all in favor.
