HIAWASSEE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES March 4th, 2025 6 pm

The City of Hiawassee March Council meeting was called to order at 6:00pm on March 4th, 2025, in Council Chambers by Mayor Pro Tem Jay Chastain, Jr. The meeting was open to the public and broadcast over FaceBook Live. 

Present, in addition to the Mayor Pro Tem, were Council members Patsy Owens, Nancy Noblet and Jonathan Wilson. Council member Amy Barrett was absent. Staff present were Economic Development Director Denise McKay, Police Chief Jeremy Parker and City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick. 

The Invocation was given by Mayor Pro Tem Jay Chastain and was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Motion to amend agenda to include 2nd reading of Hotel/Motel Ordinance and the DDA Coordinator position was made by Council member Patsy Owens, seconded by Council member Nancy Noblet with all present in favor.

Motion to approve agenda as amended was made by Council member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all present in favor.

Motion to approve the Consent Agenda, which consists of the minutes from the February 4th Council Meeting, the minutes from the February 24th Work Session Meeting, and the December 2024 Financials, was made by Council member Jonathan Wilson seconded by Council member Patsy Owens with all present in favor.

City Clerk Bonnie Kendrick swore in the Ethics Committee – Janet Oliva, Michelle Bowden and Marvin Cooper.

Motion to approve payment to DDA for matching portion of furniture grant ($10,333.00) from SPLOST was made by Council member Nancy Noblet, seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all present in favor.

There being no need for executive session, motion to adjourn was made by Council member Nancy Noblet seconded by Council member Jonathan Wilson with all in favor.

The meeting adjourned at 6:07pm.
