HIAWASSEE WORK SESSION MINUTES
November 27^th, 2017

The November 27^th, 2017 Work Session Meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.

1. Call to order

Members present were Anne Mitchell, Rayette Ross, Kris Berrong, Nancy Noblet, and Jay Chastain, Jr. Staff included Cenlya Galloway, City Clerk and Chief Paul Smith. Thomas Mitchell, City Attorney was also present.

• Pledge of Allegiance
• Invocation, Rayette Ross
• Mayor’s Introductions of Guests and Announcements

Rayettte Ross made the motion to amend the agenda to remove TCWA contract because it needs to be voted on at the December council meeting.

• Motion to Adopt Final Agenda as Distributed.

Jay Chastain made the motion and Rayette Ross seconded the final agenda as amended.

2. Old Business
   • Light Up Hiawassee event

Light up Hiawassee will be on December 2, 2017 @ 4:30 pm on the square with a golf cart parade also.

• Approve TCWA Contract

Removed based on amendment of Agenda.

3. New Business
   • Swear In Nancy Noblet – Post 5 Opening

Cenlya Galloway, City Clerk conducted the swearing in of the new councilman, Nancy Noblet, Post 5.

• Tree Ordinance – Mr. Wiles

Thomas Mitchell, City Attorney will be meeting with Mr.Wiles on this project as Mr. Wiles was not in attendance at the time of the time of the work session.

• Holiday Schedule for 2018 – City Hall Closed Dec 25, Dec 26^th for 2018

Council will vote on this at the December council meeting.

• Dates for Work Sessions/Council Meetings for 2018

Council will vote on the date for the work session/council meetings for 2018 at December council meeting.

• Date for official Swear-in of newly elected officials – January 2^nd

Thomas Mitchell, City Attorney will swear in new council members January 2, 2018

• Speed Zone Ordinance from DOT

Our police department is following these guidelines. The ordinance will be read at the December city council meeting.

• UGA-Vinson Institute Retreat March 2-3, 2018

Place to be announced where it will be held.

4. Motion to Adjourn – Jay Chastain, Jr made the motion to adjourn and Rayette Ross seconded this motion.
