HIAWASSEE WORK SESSION  January 29th, 2018

Summary of Minutes

The January 29th, 2018, Work Session Meeting was held at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall.

The session was called to order by Mayor Ordiales at 6:00 pm.  Member present were Mayor Liz Ordiales, Council Members Anne Mitchell, Kris Berrong, Amy Barrett, Nancy Noblet, and Patsy Owens.  Staff included Bonnie Kendrick, City Clerk, Police Chief Paul Smith, and Thomas Mitchell, City Attorney.  Also present was Don Baker of Engineering Management, Inc.

 Mayor Liz Ordiales lead the Pledge of Allegiance after which Anne Mitchell delivered the invocation. Mayor Liz welcomed guests.

Motion was made to adopt the final agenda as distributed by Amy Barrett and seconded by Anne Mitchell, with all in favor.

Patsy Owens was sworn in as Council Member by Attorney Thomas Mitchell. Attorney Mitchell also swore in Bonnie Kendrick as City Clerk.

Haley Zuber delivered a speech on the future of agriculture.

Old Business:

The mayor reported on changes at City Hall, fire hydrants issues, issues with cold weather and the sewer plant, an end of calendar year recap, Municode update, grease trap ordinance enforcement, Servline (water line) Insurance and the Mayors Day conference.

Police Department:

Chief Smith gave a recap of the prior year and update on recent events.

New Business:

Mayor Ordiales informed the council that the Lawn Care RFP is on website.  Approvals that will be on the Council Meeting agenda for February include Vinson Institute strategic plan, Motel/Hotel Tax distribution, Ethics  Resolution, pay off of 1989 USDA Loan (Series B), Update banking information, introduction of new Franchise Fee ordinance, and the AirMed contract for City residences and business owners.

Motion was made to adjourn the council work session by Kris Berrong, seconded by Amy Barrett with all in favor.
