How treatment works
The City of Hiawassee Wastewater Treatment Plant collects and treats sanitary waste produced within the city and transported to the plant. There the wastewater is treated and reduced to solid waste, which is packaged, removed from the site, and disposed of in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency standards.
Reducing the wastewater to solid waste means removing nearly all of the water, which is done with a belt filter press.
Before you dig
Georgia law requires you to have underground utilities located before any digging. Call 811 or submit a dig notice at least three business days beforehand.
